We all have lots of habits.
Many of them we do, without any conscious recognition that we are doing them or that we do them habitually every day.
Many of these habits we have would be labeled as “bad habits” or ones that no longer serve us in a positive way.
Breaking these “bad habits” is a big focus with people especially at the beginning of a new year or a new decade.
But breaking them is hard right?
That’s what we tell ourselves, that’s what the conversations around the office or coffee shop generally focus on early in the year…
Don’t bother with the time or energy to try and break your “bad habits”!
It’s 2010, [click to continue reading…]

We are inquisitive, curious adventurous by nature…
The desire to experience new things, to look at possibilities and choose one.
Play with it, explore the thoughts and feelings that swirl in us when we step into that possibility.
THAT is innate in each one of us. It is not a trait only found in an occasional great inventor or explorer…
It is innate within YOU!
Your eyes see so many things that are “unseen”. Your mind has so many ideas of how to create new things. Your inner muse is dancing with delight at all the possibilities you could play with today.
Every day we are on the edge of discovery… It is limiting beliefs and old ways of thinking that keep us from knowing it and embracing it.
Instead we spend a great deal of our time [click to continue reading…]

Last night I lay in bed, summer sounds drifting through the window.
I noticed little luminescent flashes of light playing on the walls and ceiling in the dark apartment.
It took me a moment to realize they were fireflies dancing in the night air. Instead of out on the lawn where I had been fascinated by them when I was a child.
They had come into the house. There were at least 20 and the colorful flashes of light brought back fond memories of summer nights dashing across soft blades of grass trying to catch a firefly in a jar.
I’ve never had them come and dance inside my home before. It was a wonderful way to drift off to sleep. My imagination floated along the soft night air, all sorts of magical thoughts playing in my mind as I drifted in a pleasant half sleep.
As I watched the luminescent flashes I wondered why as adults we don’t let our imagination free most of the time.
What is it about being grown up that says we can’t chase fireflies for the sheer joy of running barefooted across the soft grass hoping to get a closer look at this magical little creature that caries a little light on his back as he flies through the summer night…
As I lay watching the lights I was inspired by my imagination to think of ways I could let more of that sense of wonder back into my every day life. What kinds of things would be simple fun for me to experience, just as catching a firefly on a summer night had been so many years before.
What are you inspired by?
What fond memories from a childhood summer can you experience again for the very first time?
When you look at the things you do in your every day life how can you open back up to a sense of wonder?
What can you hear for the very first time when you listen to your favorite piece of music?
How can you look at your work in a new way that brings the imagination and inspiration back to you?
Take time this week to walk barefoot in the grass and spot the fireflies dancing in the evening sky.
You will be inspired by the experience and let your imagination out to play again.
Enjoy!

I had a lovely walk to my library today, the fragrance of lilacs and viburnum carlisii reaching out and kissing my senses as I walked along the pretty little streets fresh with spring green.
I love reading and I was enjoying my walk with the morning sun streaming through the leaves thinking about the books in my hand to return and the enjoyable journey I had been on while immersed in their pages.
I walked over to the new release stacks to browse, I always like to see what catches my eye.
On the top shelf was a delicious looking cupcake, a satiny bed of dark chocolate frosting topped with a sugared pansy with a bright face. Looked good enough to eat. The marketing of the cover shot hit its mark and I selected the book to take home.
Cupcakes are very popular with “big kids” these days. [click to continue reading…]
