walk don’t run to inspired success

Where are you headed in the story of your life?
Are you rushing to get away from or to something in your life?

Stop for a moment- Breathe- Wiggle your toes-
Now begin again… and move at a pace that lets you open up to what is with you in the moment.
Rushing, running around being busy, maybe at a frantic pace, thinking multitasking will get you some place faster… is the old way of moving through life.

Chances are pretty good it has not gotten you where you want to go or if it has you have not found what you hoped you would.

Hal Borland’s quote“All walking is discovery. On foot we take the time to see things whole.” opens us to a new perspective of stepping onto the path we want to travel and to do it with intention without rushing or multitasking…

Because those are things that in the old story line of the world were things used to distract us from the clarity of what we were inspired to be, do , and have.

When we walk we can listen to the song we came here to sing, when we walk we connect with others around us, when we walk we discover the journey has so much satisfaction and inspiration to share with us.

Its interesting to watch people as they start to walk in their lives. The compulsion they used to feel about needing to rush to cram so many things into their day is fading.

I hear many people say its because the changes in the world have made them pause and reevaluate. Over the last few weeks I have talked to many people from all around the world who have come to Martha’s Vineyard for a visit. They remark of “island time”.

That looking at and being part of the beauty all around them has made them slow down and tune back into what is important to them.

What about you?

Do you rush and run through your day?

or do you walk and discover things as you move through your day?

I love to walk through my day in the metaphorical sense and in the literal sense.

I take my two Labradors, Taza and Luna on two long walks each day. We may walk along the beach or through the woods or past the gingerbread cottages in our neighborhood. We become part of the place we are walking in.

In the metaphorical sense as I walk through my day I can fully engage with everyone around me. I don’t multitask and I don’t rush. Aside from making me happier it has giving me inspired success in so many areas.

October is National Walking month and this year people are waking up to the power of walking through life in the metaphorical and literal sense.

Change your speed for the month of October.

Release the multitasking, the rushing, the running… Stop and breathe, step onto the path and walk into new discoveries and new experiences.

You will be amazed at what you discover when you change the pace in a metaphorical and literal sense.

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast – you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.”~ Eddie Cantor

There is so much to see and discover and what a spirited spark you will have as you begin to walk through life.
Enjoy!
