
Stress seems to have become a way of life for so many of us.
We are stressed and it colors how we move through the day, how we communicate and how we define ourselves. Its part of our story and part of our connection to the world.
This kind of stress is something that we can control and create and that we can choose to release from our lives.
Its hard to be a spirited woman to let your abundance, playfulness and inspiration bubble up from within when you are living your life with stress and defining who you are by how stress colors your language.
Your thoughts create your reality.
Science has been studying the correlation between what we think and its effects on physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. There is now a large volume of scientific evidence that our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions produce powerful bio chemicals that create striking physiological changes in us.
Even better than a magic pill the answer lies inside us all.
We can change our thoughts at work, driving our kids to play practice, after school, or while we stir the ingredients of this great new recipe we are trying.
We can change our thoughts by incorporating intentional meditation as we move through our day. Meditation is simply a form of consciously relaxing.
Taking a few moments throughout your day to “choose to relax”, with a little practice you can learn to consciously relax during your daily activities.
Begin your meditation by taking several deep breaths, let your mind relax and when you take your deep breaths feel your thoughts centered and originating from your heart and not your head.
Tense your shoulders by lifting them to your ears then relax. Tense your hands by tightening your fits and relax.
Let your eyes soften and gently take in what is around you as you continue to breathe and “think” through your heart… let go of your story around stress around what you need to do.
Let the spirited smile from within fill you up. This smile- this knowing that all is well is innate in each of us we have just pinched it off with our concentration on the story of stress that has become so important to us. Continue to breathe and feel these affirmations in your body.
Quietly say these affirmations to yourself:
- I am safe
- Breathing in I am connected with divine energy
- I am worthy just as I am
- I can feel my body releasing stress and the story of worry
- I will keep this positive thought energy with me throughout the day
- I feel happy, healthy, and expansive
This intentional meditation can be done anywhere any time… standing in line at the grocery store, waiting for a stop light, riding the elevator, before we have an appointment… it can also be done right in the middle of a conversation or an activity.
You step out of your swirling story breathe and tune into your innate well being and take on life and how you experience it in a whole new way.

Shifting our mind would seem easy to some. But in reality it’s quite difficult. Not actually because it’s hard but because in the beginning first recognizing when our thoughts are not beneficial to us then to remember to shift the thought so something that is beneficial. I use affirmations all the time. Just remember that when you find yourself having those not so good thought I say “that’s not like me” and think of something positive. Great article. Linda, you remind everyone of a good point. The place to begin shifting your thoughts is with paying attention to them , especially the ones that are not beneficial to where we want to go- what we want to create…
Its a process, the habit of thinking negative thoughts is something you have been practicing for a long time. You need to choose to make the shifts in thoughts and set a new focus and a new course.
You can shift things in an instant when you are engaged in the shift and release the old vibration of lack and the illusion of the old paradigms.
