Time is your most important resource.

When you have clarity on what is most important to you, what will be most valuable to you and your customers to spend your time on.

Then you can leverage the time you spend working on your business, be more successful and enjoy what you are doing as you move throughout your day.

Here are 5 common things sabotaging your successful time management and quick solutions you can use to shift your mindset and leverage into successful time management for your small business.

Mind clutter:
If your mind is always whirling on all the things you think you have to make happen, or learn how to do, or struggle to fit into your day. You are expending a tremendous amount of mental energy that is wasting your most valuable asset, your life force energy.

When you get into the rhythm of taking mindset moments throughout your day you give your self more time, more creativity, more inspired success…

A mindset moment can be as simple as quieting your mind and taking some deep cleansing breaths and then starting the next step on what would be valuable for you to do.

A mindset moment can be more intricate by taking a moment to play a positive what if game on a certain subject, or telling a new story about your small business and life and how they are thriving. Complete with all the nuances and experiences that come to you each day in this new story line.

Internet time sinkholes:
Its important to do research on the internet for your keywords, finding blog directories to get listed in, connecting with your focus audience on Face Book, looking for information on social book marking sites… Theses can also become large sinkholes for your time.

Being organized and leveraging your actions will keep them from being a distraction you get caught up in rather than expanding your business being of more service to your customers or finishing with work and going out to play.

Setting up a Word document to capture the research and useful links you have found with a specific focus in mind will make your time more effective.

Setting a small digital kitchen timer for 15 minutes for each task and then getting up and walking away for a few minutes will keep your intention in mind and keep you from falling into a time sinkhole.

Daily time wasters:
Honor your time, don’t let other people waste it. If someone calls or stops by to chat and you’re pressed for time, be polite, keep it short and schedule some time to get together outside of your creative work time.

Keep track of unnecessary or unproductive meetings, phone calls, emails… These can really waste time and sap your energy.

Make sure you are scheduling time to rest, to play, to explore ideas… in your daily routine. This is a very powerful way of honoring your time and empowering yourself in your creative work time.

This keeps you out of the mindset rut of trying to make things happen and shifts you into an expansive mindset of flow and inspiration.

Habit of to do list overwhelm:
Do you have a daily to do list that just never seems to be complete?

Do you find yourself getting one thing crossed off the to do list only to add two more before you get to the next one that was already on your daily to do list?

You have a habit of to do list overwhelm. The do to list and never getting it all done has become part of your story line and your identity. Reflect for a moment how often do you mention in conversation to someone something like: I have so much to do- I never get it done, I don’t have enough time, I am tired and I have too much to do…

Be more selective of what you put on your daily to do list. Limit yourself to the 3-4 most important and valuable things for you to put on your to do list. To do this successfully you will need to reevaluate what is most important to you.

Everything on your to do list is a choice, you can make a new choice to step out of the habit of to do list overwhelm. You gain more clarity on what you really want to create in your small business and then set your inspired actions from there.

Forcing things to happen and procrastination mind rut:
What are your work habits?
Do they support your passion in business, how you want to be of service, what you want your business to give you?
If your work habits are keeping you in a mindset of forcing things to happen resulting in procrastination you don’t have effective habits. Procrastination comes from not having your clarity passion and purpose in the task lined up.
There are small shifts you can make in overcoming procrastination.

First let go of the mindset of forcing things or making things happen. Switch to a mindset of attraction marketing and inspired action.

Reexamine your work habits you will see patterns that lead to procrastination and you will clearly see that you have not tapped into your inspiration or an empowering motivation to take the next step. You are just stuck in a forcing it mind rut or shutting down with the procrastination.

Developing good habits, healthy habits like getting exercise everyday even if it is only a few minutes will release your mind from the rut of procrastination. Open your mind to new thought patterns, changing habits from slogging through something to being more playful with ideas and possibilities will give you new ideas.

When your mindset is one of playing with the next step it opens and expands its thinking and moves away from procrastination. Your focus shifts to inspiration and motivation about what your working on a releases the grip of making things happen.

This is when you allow answers, ideas, resources, collaborators to come into your awareness. This is when you allow things to unfold with inspired success.
