What are you filling up your life energy jar with?

by BZ Riger

How many things do you have filling up your life?

I want you to take an inventory of your life and think for a minute how many things do you have filling up your life.

Do you find yourself thinking that you don’t have enough time to do the things you really want to do?

Are you putting off starting your business or making the important changes in your life or career because you have so little time already to make these important changes?

There is an old story of a philosophy professor who shares an important lesson of time management, getting things done and focus profit with his students. His lesson is from a philosophical perspective.

The professor stood in front of the class and started to fill a large wide mouth jar with some golf balls. When he filled the jar to the top he asked his students if they thought the jar was full?

The class nodded their heads and agreed the jar was full. Next the professor picked up a package of pebbles and began to pour them into the jar. The pebbles filled the spaces around the golf balls.

“Is the jar full?” The professor asked. The students agreed that this time the jar was full.

The professor pulled out a box of sand and started to pour the sand into the jar, it sprinkled into all the cracks and filled the jar. “Is the jar full?” the professor asked his class. The students were sure the jar was full; they could not see how anything else could fit!

The professor took two cans of beer and poured them into the jar, the beer ran over all of the other stuff and filled the space. The professor looked out at the class and said”this jar represents your life.”

The golf balls are the really important things in your life (happiness, health, family, love) if you lost or removed everything else your life would still be rich full and rewarding.

The pebbles are the other things that you enjoy and appreciate, money, success, fulfillment, satisfaction. The sand is all the other stuff that fills all the space in your life and keeps you from having space to do what you really want. If you start by filling your jar (with the sand) there is no room for the golf balls and the pebbles that are of real importance to you.

What is really important to you and what things are filling up your life?

Have you filled your life up with sand? Is it starting to feel more like quick sand to you?

Take a few minutes right now to decide what you really want. Survey what is in your life jar and identify what are particles of sand that you can remove from your jar. Clearly identify what are your golf balls and your pebbles.

Do you have several pebbles and golf balls you have not even been able to fit inside the jar of your life yet?

Every day remove more sand from your jar of life, let what is really important to you expand, and place the pebbles or golf balls you may have left out of your jar before because there was no room in your jar of life.

Do this with deliberate focus and intention every day for 30 days and you will be very pleased with how things are changing for you.
